Blue LED Light Therapy in Cooper City

At Meljestic Spa, blue LED is built into our $120 acne facial rather than sold as a stand-alone session, because it works best on skin that has just been cleansed and cleared. Here’s what it does and who it helps.

How It Works

What Blue LED Does for Acne

Acne bacteria, Cutibacterium acnes, produce compounds called porphyrins. Blue light at around 415 nanometres is absorbed by those porphyrins, which helps reduce the bacteria in the follicle. It uses no heat and no UV, so there is nothing to recover from.

Blue LED on its own is modest. Its real value is as the final step after steam, extractions and laser bulk heating have cleared the pore, which is exactly how it is used in the acne facial.
  • Targets acne bacteria
  • No UV, no heat
  • Best after extractions

Blue LED isn’t sold as a stand-alone session at Meljestic Spa. It is included in the $120 acne facial, where it follows cleansing and extractions for the best effect.
For acne-prone skin, blue LED is a useful, gentle addition to a proper acne facial. On its own its effect is modest, which is why we combine it with steam, extractions and laser bulk heating.
Yes. It uses visible light with no UV and no heat. Tell Melissa if you take photosensitizing medications or have a light-sensitive condition, and you may be asked to keep your eyes covered during treatment.
No. LED uses low-intensity light at a single color to calm skin and target acne bacteria. IPL is a high-energy broad-spectrum light. Meljestic Spa does not offer IPL.
It comes with each acne facial, so it builds with your plan. Most clients book acne facials every 2 to 4 weeks while breakouts are active.
