How microcurrent works, and who should not have it
Microcurrent uses extremely low-level electrical current, measured in microamperes — a millionth of an amp, well below the threshold at which you would feel a shock. At that intensity the current works at cell level rather than on nerves. Research on microcurrent describes increased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule cells use for energy, along with improved amino acid transport and protein synthesis.
In practice, probes are worked along the frontalis, orbicularis oculi and zygomaticus muscle groups to tone and re-educate them, and along lymphatic pathways to reduce puffiness. The lifted look immediately after a session is real but temporary; the lasting change comes from a series, because muscle tone is cumulative in exactly the way gym training is. That is why microcurrent is usually booked as a course and topped up monthly, and why a single pre-event session is best thought of as a polish rather than a transformation.
